"MINT AND RARE BUCKMASTER 185 SURVIVAL KNIFE. MANUFACTURED BY BUCK. VERY UNUSUAL BUCKMASTER AS IT IS COMPLETELY STERILE. THE FALSE EDGE HAS NO SERRATIONS AT ALL AND THE BLADE HAS NEVER BEEN GROUND TO BE SHARPENED ON THE CUTTING EDGE. THERE IS A GOLD LIKE FINISH ON THE BLADE AND NO HANDLE WAS EVER PUT ON. "

like buck will let this type of thing get in a box !
i bet this is one that was to be put in the trash for flaws and jest went home with some one ...
but if i am wrong some one please correct me ... and then i will edit this out!
i emailed the guy and asked if ther was a box and sheath and if not mentioned it may be a knife that should have been trashed for flaws and got no reply..
some itmes i jest cant keep my mouth shut i guess - should i have ? :foot:

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago when it was for sale the first time, had it marked to watch, and have since deleted it.That may be one of the blades that got pulled out of the bottom of a hopper at the metal recycler in San Diego, there have been other groupings of unsharpened and flawed blades for sale on ebay.

I think the word "sterile" would scare me off. I was out at one of the knifemaker supply places once and saw numerous blanks similar to that and in all shapes and sizes.

Buck? How would you know for sure?

There was a humorous post in one of the last BCCI Newsletters about Leroy Remer being the Official Buck Dumpster Diver...I'm sure there are others, and with Buck leaving town, a lot of unsalable knives may have been sent to the furnace...or maybe they only got partway there...

latest on the stolen knife blank ---
he lowered the reserve on it to were the top two bidders are both now winners !
i guess figured He would trap them in before they seen this thread ...
his reserve was over 120 at first!!!

Leroy jest goes after memorabilia that was not taken to idaho...
he is a real buckester at heart you know....

Ya know, it only took me about a week to figure out "lunch box" knife.
I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I ain't a spoon...

Wasn't there a song or a story about a guy who lunch boxes home enough parts fom Detroit to finally build himself a car? It takes him 20 or 30 years so he winds up with this Frankenstein mobile.

That is exactly what got me to think of it on this thread MikeSEA!

I wouldn't be so quick to call anything "stolen"...

I still have items that were drawn from the tookcrib of a plant I used to work for that went out of business...we were given 20 minutes to get our tool boxes (mine stands five feet tall - Millwright) out or lose them...I was lucky that I didn't leave anything in my shop cabinets/drawers...I still lost everything in my FCU account...the bankruptcy court seized all company assets...never was paid back... :grumpy:

as it happens you are correct my friend ...
it could be that it was a found in metal bin by some one were it was stuck in bottom ...
there was a listing a while back that it was described as jest that ..
his company rented a scrap bin and he found some buck blades in the bottom...

i hate that executives can bankrupt a co and get every thing but workers loose all... if it was a gun robbery for 20$ they would get 5 years but using a peace of paper get away wit it..
