I planned on a short hike in the woods and lunch on the trail with my daughter. Then she bailed on me. So I had a short hike in the woods and lunch on the trail by myself. I wanted to get out my camping stove and dust it off. It has been almost nine years since my camping stove has been used. It still worked great. I had my BK9 along and it got some use for the easy job of making chopsticks to eat my ramen noodles.

I didn't have matches or a lighter so I had to use by ferro rod to light my stove.

And of course I had to take some pictures of my Beckers while I was out.

This is my new hatchet that I just got.

These are what I carry everywhere.

Looks like a good day out. Is the hatchet a garden hatchet from Garrett Wade?

The hatchet is what was available at my local hardware store. There is no stamp anywhere on it. It had a few stickers on the handle but they were in Japanese and I pealed them off. It was pretty cheap so I figured I try it out.

Here are the Japanese labels:

The company and model

I can figure out the messages behind this label.

Can't beat lunch outdoors on a backpacking stove--- makes ramen taste better IMO :D

Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a good time. Interesting wedge system on that hatchet as well.

Hey rok what's the stove you've got there? I'm looking to get a nice compact one I can put in my pack, I have ye olde coglans emergency hexamine one but I'd like something more contained including the pots.

My old MSR Whisperlite International. I think it's about 15-16 years old.

i like the stove and thats a really interesting lookin hatchet there. Looks like the head is held in place by that little metal strip which hooks over the top of the bit.

So I cant find any info on the hatchet how did you get it ?

I went to my local hardware store and picked it up off the shelf. Keep in mind that my local hardware store is different than your local hardware store. At my local store everyone speaks Japanese and you pay with yen.
