I'm heading to Luray Caverns in July, and would like to hike some trails near there. Keep in mind, I'm a big fella. Endurance is thankfully not a problem, but let's leave the tough country to the fit people :D :o. Going south on RTE 340, but Skyline Drive looks like a good trip back. I-83 corridor to Frederick MD, then 340 to Luray. I'm definitely stopping at Harpers Ferry on the way back, Skymeadows State Park is on the list too. Any where else on my route to check out?

The AT goes thru Harpers Fery, so that is a pretty good hike. I have only come up from the south and you should not find the topography a problem. Keep in mind that some of that are is wilderness and permits are needed (July is prob peak use time). Have a good time

Do a river float on the Shenandoah. There are several out fitters in the area. We stayed at a really neat riverside cabin. If youre interested google Gander Island cabins.--KV
