I really can't keep looking at new knives, but just noticed the Ontario RAK. I'm drooling, and think this will be my next fixed blade.

Anyone have this one, and care to comment? What can this one do that my others won't?

I was surprised at the price, around 45 if I want paracord wrapped handle, or 70 for micarta handles.

Only complaint I've found owners had was the velcro strap on the sheath.

I really like mine, got the micarta scales. Feels solid and has a quite natural grip and balance, very at home with a reverse grip. The coat seems like it can take some abuse, but so far I haven't really used it. The only thing I've done with it was stab a phone book that was lying around, comparing it to a Rat-7, Mora Leuku and an Ranger Bush series 7. Bored, I guess. Was surprised to see that the RAK had the 2nd deepest penetration despite being thicker than the RBS-7 and leuku, and same thickness as the Rat-7. The factory sheath rattles some, but I pulled out the plastic insert, heated with a heat gun and pressed with the blade inside and the top of the handle, then put back with glue inside the pouch, now feels good. Overall I'm quite satisfied, and suspect I will like it more after giving it proper work. For the money, it's a great buy, I do like ontarios a lot. Go ahead and don't worry about the velcro, it holds it fine, and you can always go with a different sheath.

I like the looks of that knife. Definitely not the most practical, but if all anyone wanted was practicality, then this forum wouldn't exist in the first place  If you want one, and you find it for a good price, then go for it!
