I hear talk that they are pretty good swords, but yet to find a review of one in action.

Are they any good? Compare to Angus or Del Tin? or junk?

Just wondrin,

on swordforum someone just gave a small review of a katzbalger (sp??). the fit and finish of it were great, probably on a DT level.

However I did hear that it had a welded tang, that may or may not be bad, but makes me want to hear more reviews.

I recieved my first sword from Lutel (catalog No. 15008, a rather large Bastard sword) today. So far, I am very pleased with it. It is a well balanced sword with an overall very good, "solid" quality. Especially the leatherwork and furnishings are extremely well executed. The blade is not polished, but has an acceptable finish. The sword is not only very well balanced, it also is of historically accurate light weight (a little more than 3 pounds) and handles extremely well - seems the guys at Lutel have some experience with swordfighting. Dealing with them can be a somewhat time-consuming, since there is a little language barrier to overcome, and the way you have to transfer the money is not the easiest one, too - but I think the products they manufacture are worth the efforts.
I'll keep you posted about testing the sword - I am short on time right now, so it might take a few days.

Just to keep you posted..

I just disassembled my Lutel 15008, and the tang was not welded; actually, it is a mixture between a "rat-tail" and a tapering tang - doesn't look that bad. Since I am lacking a sparring partner, I put the sword to some abuse (cutting 1.5 - 2" branches) and it did rather well - not a great chopper, but, after all, it is a sword, and hacking down trees really is an abuse of a sword that long)
