Sometime last fall I picked up my first NICA sebenza. I always had reservations about the grind. Here's what I found out, for what I use a knife for, opening bags, envelopes, boxes and scoring paper I;ve foudn them very handy.

What's more so far they have been smoother and have a better feel (if that's possible) then regular sebenzas.

I'll probably keep my eye out for more. :D

Hey DaveH,
The one that came out in 2005.........do they come small and large?? Looks like yours is a large. ;) Very Nice

Chris D. :D

let's see, the one of 200, that started out last year, only comes in large.

The other previous ones that came back a few years, came in both large and small.

Hi DaveH

Nice collection you have there. Excuse my ignorance but is NICA an acronym and if it is, what does it stand for?

Thanks
Lou

:D Happy Day! Your picture inspired me to bid on one on Ebay - and I won it! Picture to be posted later....and you STILL have a fantastic grouping! :D

Excellent, you got the one from NC blades? I was looking at that one too!

:D Yep. Heck of a way to spend 4th of July - waiting for that last 40 seconds to bid!

Dave - how is the grind different to regular Sebenzas? In fact, how do NICA's differ from regular Sebenzas? Thanks.

OH, the blade is a tanto type design. Here is a pic from plaza cutlery

I had my doubts, but it works for me. I realize now I almost never use the "belly" of a regular sebenza blade shape. I either use the frobt part near the tip, or along the straight edge. So this blade shapr gives me more blade that I actually _use_. I hope that makes sense.

I was asking because I am looking for a tanto sebbie (!) Great looking knife - I am a fan of tantos anyway. I e mail Plaza last night to see what they have available.
