Hmm. Should I grab the LW Chaparral in FRN or spend the extra $30-$40 to get the cf version with exposed liners? Anyone have both? The smallest knives I have are Delicas (V-toku2 and Hap40)

I have both. It's a toss up between the two versions. CF looks a little nicer (if that matters) and I find the CF to have adequate texture for a gents knife. The FRN/LW model is an excellent value, has cool new bi-directional texturing, is a little lighter, and comes in a nice shade of grey.

Both are great choices IMO.

The FRN Chaparral is probably one of the best buys in the production knife world. I can't think of anything I'd recommend for <$100 over it. The Massdrop Ferrum Forge Gent may be about on par, but the Chaparral's handle works better for me.

I have and prefer the CF/G-10 version. I like the solidity and texture of the handle, but I haven't held the FRN version for comparison. The CF/G-10 is attractive enough for a "gentleman's carry," so I can take it anywhere a knife is legal. Works in a jeans pocket as well as a suit.

`br4dz- mentioned the liners and handle thickness. I think the FRN Chaparral also has steel liners, and personally I wouldn't want mine to be any thinner, for grip comfort.

Well the cf version isn't cf all the way. It's g10 with a layer of cf on it.

The FRN Chap has partial/nested liners

Full vs partial liners are majorly different, and I didn't say it didn't have liners, I said zero need for THE liners on the CF version , i.e. full liners.
