Lynard hole in the 110?

Hey guys, i'm buying a buck 110 for a fairly cheap edc.
but what im wondering is , have any of you guys ever drilled a lanyard hole in one?, I have always like the look of and small braid of leather, or something similar. So if you have, did you come accrost any problems you didn't think would happen?. I cant see any thing except maybe the blade slowly cutting the lanyard, if maybe not drilled right. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what have been your experiences with the buck 110 custom shop, this intrigues me.

The custom shop is an excellent resource. You can get exactly the tool you want. My next knife purchase is going to be a ns-bolstered 110 in stagor buffalo horn.

be careful where you drill; the metal spacer that you can see when you look at the pommel end of your 110 holds the spring that makes the locking mechanism function. Somewhere, I saw a pic of a 110 with clear plastic on one side, so you can see where the spring sits... Anybody know where to find that pic?

Oh, and welcome to the forums, Ben.
Check out the Buck forum for more specific info.

Yeah, this has been brought up before on the Buck forum and as I recall it's just as puukkoman says - you can ruin the knife if you drill in the wrong place. From what I remember, there really isn't a right place, the guys at Buck didn't recommend it.

here is a pic. of my lanyard hole.

You might want to look at the KaBar 2745/2746 lockbacks. Identical to the Bucks...with lanyrd hole...and only about $ 15.00.

My experiences wit the Buck Custom Shoppe have been great! :)

As for the lanyard, I asked Buck about it myself last year and got the "we won't do it, some aftermarket folks have, it can totally screw up the knife and it won't be covered under warranty" answer.

Check out a Schrade 6OT, darn near the same as a 110, but comes with a lanyard hole.
