Hi all,

Apart from some posts here and there it's been a while since I visited the Becker sub. Thought I'd post a thread on a fun couple of days I had.
For some reason I don't take as many pics as I used to, like when doing food prep on our hikes and stuff. Always busy and when it's over I realize I should have taken pictures. Same thing while fossil hunting! I'll never be an influencer :D...

Anyway, my wife (yes, I got married last summer to the wonderful woman that's been on my side the last 15 years or so) and I decided to go for an overnighter to the Müllerthal in Luxemburg.
A 3 hour drive, and we're in a completely different setting. From the lowlands of the Antwerp province in Belgium to the hilly areas of the Ardennes and Eifel region in the Belgium/Luxemburg/Germany border area. Absolutely a beautiful place with meadows, forests, high plateaus, steep rock faces, small rivers... A great place to empty your head, and a hiker's paradise.

We took the B1 route in Beaufort on Saturday and B19 route in Berdorf/Bollendorf on Sunday. Both are well worth it, and at around 10km each with quite some ascending and descending to do, they're not the easiest hikes but definitely not on an Alpine level of difficulty. The first one was overall the nicest, but the second one had some nice crevasses in the rocky surroundings that the first one didn't have.

Enjoy the scenery!

People see heads everywhere.

Great pics!
I planned to visit there on the end of april.
Heard good things about hiking there. The rock formations look amazing. Cool fossil finding!

Did you stay on a campsite? If so maybe you gave any tips on ones close to the trails? Prefer to leave the car on the campsite and start on foot from there.

We stayed in a hotel just across the border in Germany. We like having the car to drive around to different spots, so... Sorry, can't help you on the campsite thing! But there's obviously plenty of campsites all around the place. In the German town of Bollendorf there were many campings, and all the Berdorf hikes are just across the river (which is the border with Luxemburg there). That might be an option?

Thanks for thinking with me.
I have to study some more to figure out where we'll have our 'basecamp' :)
Just across the German border might be a good option too.

And thanks for your pictures, gets me even more exited to go there now :D

Thank you so much for sharing this with us:) Looks so familiar, I've been on some of those trails... It seems you enjoyed your stay in the Eifel.

An hour or so south and you would have been in the Pfälzerwald, the area where I live.

This summer I plan to visit the Ardennes with my Motorcycle for a long weekend, and they are just vis-a-vis from the Eifel.

Good to see a fellow Beckerhead so close...

:)

Great looking area! Is it an established climbing/bouldering spot? Good-looking sandstone!

We didn't spot any climbers on the hikes we did, but I read that certain spots in the area are quite well known for climbing. It's definitely a hiking paradise, called 'little Switzerland'.
