Can I use a regular V-type sharpening system to sharpen my M-16 13Z? The reason I ask this is because it seems that the left side of the blade (the side that has the logo and "CRKT" on it) is ground a lot more than the right side (the one with "Carson Design and M-16 13Z on it). My sharpener has 15 and 22 degree angles so would it be OK to use it?

Is this the non-serrated version or partially serrated?

If its the latter then you'll have to adjust your angle...it's steeper than on the plain edged one.

It's the partially serrated one. So do I just tilt the blade towards the ceramic rod when I'm sharpening the left side?

I'm not sure what the exact angle is. You'll have to tilt the blade slightly to your right. Just off that 90 degree mark.

Whoops, I just use the 40 degree angle on both sides. I can't remember if I ever thinned the bevels with the 30 degree setting, but the bevels on my M16 look like crap! Oh well, as long as it cuts.

Your M16-13Z is ground on one side only. Look real close and you will see that CDKT only grinds their serrated blades on the front of the blade. The marks you see on the back are where they polish off the wire. You can have someone reprofile the back of the blade if you want. There is no difference in performance with the blade ground like that.

I noticed the same thing! Its a very difficult blade to sharpen...I sharpend mine last with the Sharpmaker...just try to follow the edge and you should be ok. I got mine sharp enough to shave with...

I have the M16-13Z as well.
Last night, I used the Spyderco Triangle sharpener using 40 degree.
Three to four stroke on the sharp side ( CRKT logo) and
One stork on the other side to get rid of any Burr.
Using the ceramic rod. It worked out great.

I used the cermaic rod on mine too! I'm gonna try your method its sound better than altenating strokes like I was doing. I notced I would remove more burr on the logo side the way I was doing it.
