Is anyone still making the issue versions of these two knives or offering them for sale......I haven't found them at any of the typical retailers.Thanks.

M-3 Trench Knife/ V-42

Speaking about the M3 only, I don't know of anyone making these anymore. I think Camillus was the last company to make these and they quit doing so about 3-4 years ago. I have one of their knives made to commorate 50 years of US Army service with some gold etching on a blued blade (not phosphate coating) saying something like "1941-1991, This We'll Defend" (it's home and I'm at work). It is new and if interested e-mail me back.

You can find the commemoratives at http://www.crknives.com/ for about $ 50. These people are really good to deal with.
The regular repro (parkerized) made by Camillus is still available from Charlie's Surplus (advertise in Shotgun News)for about $ 30 comes with a high quality but plain sheath. I can probably dig up a phone number. I just got one and for just a few bucks more you can also get a repro sheath of the same style as the original paratrooper model as seen on Band of Brothers. Charlie is a great guy to deal with although really busy since Sept 11.
You can find originals on eBay for under $ 100
Please note that the originals had two pins holding the butt on while the repros delibertly have only one so no one can pass them off as originals.

Hi, I'm new to knife collecting, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the V - 42 has been out of production since the end of WWII. I don't know about the M-3. I believe I did see a good replica of the V-42 for sale at www.replicaweapons.com. Also, they were made by Case so you may be able to contact the company and see if they still sell repros.

I thought that Case had done a reissue of the V-42 within the last few years. Searching for Case products might be one trick.
