18 inch 34 ounce M-43 by Sher the (tiger). This Knife was returned by forumites who can't fix the shrinkage of horn handle. Pala fixed the handle with epoxy fill and now this is a strong rig. Razer sharp blade. Take it for $95. *SOLD*

Glad to see your patience has worn off, great price for a great M43. I'm still thinking about that Salyan though... hmmm, somebody stop me before it's too late...

7rip13a, after the day I've been having I'd rather spend the money on a Sher M43 than bail:eek:

I'm 95% certain that's my old m-43 and it's actually by Young Sher... I tried fixing it up myself on two occasions, but the handle slabs just kept loosening up after doing some chopping. I trust Pala's skills though and it looks like it's good to go! I would have picked it up if I had been on earlier as that khuk eats up wood like nobody's business

Oh and when Auntie says razor sharp, she means razor sharp. I gave the edge a good polishing up before sending it back so I think you'll be quite pleased - just watch your fingers, oldschool! ;)

I looked at that M-43 right after Yangdu posted it. It was all I could do to keep from pulling the trigger on it.

Glad to see it found a home.

Is it just me or that M43 has a really thin blade?
Look at pic N-4 from top.
Interesting for 32oz weight.
How a "full tang" handle (i forgot the 'right' word) can give you such problem?

Very sexy Salyan BTW. Unusual handle butt work too.

That appears to be the back bottom of the blade behind the cho.

Don't worry Dan, soon you'll be a walking khuk encyclopaedia. Heck, you've only been here for a few weeks.

And the term for a full exposed tang is chiruwa. I'm sure you probably already found that out though.:)

Thanks for mentioning it "Chiruwa"...must put this in my "nepal translator":D
I'm just so used to "full tang" ah anyway...chir...[writes something down]

Yep - chiruwa is great although I've come to prefer the hidden tang models: less shock transferred to your hands, better grip and plenty strong enough unless you need to pry open a car door or something.

Also, today's particular m43 was 3/8" thick (which IMO, is perfect). My replacement m-43 was by Santosh and is a whopping 1/2" thick (I guess he overbuilds his khuks like his uncle, Sher the Tiger). He added a very distinct taper and psuedo-fuller though which still makes for a fairly nice acute edge. The blade is also VERY well balanced. It's the only kukri I own that I can balance with one finger in this manner without much effort to keep it from tipping:

7rip13a, for most people Mondays suck for me the Universe has decided that my weekly day of Crap is Thursdays. Lets see I tore off the side-view mirror on my company car in a parking garage (I hate dong car body work instead of knife making in my free time), mis-keyed in the disarm code on an alarm system and had to listen to a 120decible siren wail for about 10 minutes while I got that resolved and fighting the urge to permanently disable the siren. And I'll be on for another 2 hours shoveling paperwork. In the grand scheme of things it wasn't a bad day but I've had better. Thanks for the well wishes.

I don't know how I've managed not to cut my finger off.
This khuk must love me:rolleyes:
That was a double balancing act, considering I took about 10 pics with one hand while balancing the khuk with the other. And then you realize that you don't want to use a flash against a mirror:D and have to do it all over again:mad:
