M-43 blade question

I purchased a new M-43 a few months ago and just recently had the chance to use it. The other day, I chopped apart in two places my white pine Christmas tree so the city would haul it away. Afterwards I noticed the blade had a small bend it in the belly area. Is this a common occurrence with Khukuris? I was somewhat suprised, since I believe pine is a relatively soft wood compared to other type of trees. Your thoughts?

Many thanks,

a picture would be really helpful to give you a full idea of what's up.

Steely, it might be a moot point now. I took the chakmak and straighten out the area in question. The bent area was very small, but my concern what would happen if I was chopping on harder wood? If it turns out the blade can't handle a chopping job, I guess I can get a Ang Khola some time in the future.

After polishing sometimes you are left with a slightly soft initial edge. With use and sharpening they usually reveal harder metal underneath.

Give it a sharpening and then see if it happens again. If it does contact myself or Auntie with pics so we can see whats up with it.

Thank you Karda. It might be awhile since it's winter here in Ohio and I'm not doing much outside at the moment. However I will do as you suggested. As for sharping a khukuri, I have not attempted that yet!! Still trying to figure out what is the best and easiest way to sharpen one. It seems everyone has their own technique.

Best,
