The snow is finally gone from my camping grounds & I was able to go out and use some of the skills I've learned here.
I thank you all for the informative threads.
And yes a chain saw is a survival tool!
(and the truck I drove to get up there)

Have a look if you will....& thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I harvested the last of the fatwood from the stump I've been getting it from for the last few years.
The JK Hudson Bay XL going through a knot.
I used the JK Kephart to spark up some of the fatwood shavings I mixed with one of the old birds nests I found.
JKs taking a break.
A chainsaw sure comes in handy & saved me a lot of time looking for camp wood:thumbup:
The Kaphart posing on a beautiful old stump I found up behind camp while wandering around.
Lunch over the Emberlit Ti after the hike.
Some of last years birds nests...great tinder.
I found a few Morells too.
I had to get a pic of this pretty little guy posing on a wild rose plant.
I'd never seen a red beetle before, but saw 2 of them this trip.
Made a figure 4,but didn't trap anything because I had plenty of food in the cooler.
It's good to practice the skills though.
I thought I'd found the skeleton of an alien when I first saw this..
but it's just an old eaten up log.
