Awsome knife, M Miss.t no idea of value, sorry. Definitely looks like what falls under "trench knife". Whether it dates to ww1 or later I have no idea, but maybe it'll help narrow your search

That knife was made a little over one-half mile from where I live.

M. H. Cole was a Birmingham, Alabama Homicide Detective.

He made these knives in his home during WWII and after.

I used to go to church with a family that still possessed the one he made for their husband and father. It had the owner's name or initials on it in multiple locations.

I went through school with the man's daughter.

I think that knife now belongs to a local noted military collector, whose name I cannot recall at the moment.

Mr Cole collected western revolver sets and he made very nice belts and holsters for them. I believe one of the last books he published contained those old pistol sets.

He made some of the sheaths for his WWII knives, as well.

He made these knives and apparently gave them away to departing local servicemen.

Mr. Cole and his wife were two of the finest people I have ever known. They used to display at all the Alabama Gun Collector Association shows.

Bernard Levine used the line drawings done by M. H. Cole in the military sections of his Levine's Guide To Knives And Their Values.

Mr Cole's knives are high dollar collectibles around here.
