M-Tech Spear Point Comments

I went to the local knife and gun show today and noticed the M-Tech spear point knives are selling for ~$15. The blade shape is similar to Ranger's RD series. The blade is about 8" long and close to 1/4" thick. The handle feels quite comfortable and the sheath is tolerable. Dont know what the blade steel is. Are there any comments? Is this a knock off of some reputable company's design? I want one for a beater and to set a lower bound on performance. I like the design, but have only seen them in the flea-markets and gun/knife shows.
