I have a Junglee Hattori Fighter and to tell you the truth, I am very impressed with this knife. I think Junglee is starting to get a better reputation. Jeff Randall has a positive article about one of their folders in the latest TK.

My question is:

What is MVS8? I have been doing some cutting test on the Hattori and this steel seems to be really good. No point deformation on stabbing wood, shaves wood nicely, easy to sharpen. Also, this knife is utterly gorgeous IMHO.

Any comments about this steel would be appreciated. What is its composition?

I don't have any of those Hattoris although the sale here at BF (over a year ago)
was tempting. Hattori fighters seem to be only knives with this MVS-8 steel.

Composition is: C 0.85%, Cr 14%, Mn 0.5%, Mo 2.5%, Si 0,5% and V 0,15%.

Looks like Aus-8 with quite alot Molybdenium added. I bet that that much moly causes it to be quite expensive as well (material and machine tooling). I also think that it makes good blade steel.
