M1 16" scratches??

Hi there, I have a 1942 16" M1 Garand bayonet and noticed some weird scratches in the groove of the blade. Any ideas what that is from??

They might just be tooling marks.

Does that mean from when they made it? or from someone sharpening it?

Probably from when it was made.
