hey Rob, do you plan on using orange g-10 scales? :D pretty nice review, he needs bigger pictures.

Hey Jack- If you go to www.KnivesWideOpen.com and click on "showcase" he has more pictures. I put the link that was direct to the review.

I don't know about orange.. I do plan on Olive and Tan down the road. You want orange?

Next thing I need to do is come up with names for these next 2 models.. I may be asking for some help with that..

you were right, there was some bigger pictures! :) orange would sound interesting if i was going to be using the M1 in the woods or grass.:D otherwise the black, olive and tan would be great!

Hey, Combative Edge.
Thanks for informing us about this knife on about every knife forum on the web :D

M1 knife seems to be a really nice tactical folder, with great practical design, I like the lockbar protection, and that cutout in lockbar. Cool.
But I would really like to see a REAL review, not one that includes "buy one now" :)

Btw. Who manufactures those knives - fox, fantoni, lion steel or other company? Those Italian guys really know how to bring out good quality in production.

I believe you are an independent knife designer/maker, right? Good luck with that knife.

It is a tactical-utility folder, right?
So, do some "tactical" stuff. Cut around car tire, stab and saw trough some metal sheet, stab a wood block to show that grip is secure. If knife is also thought as impact device, take it and hit wood block with the handle no damage on the knife.
I am pretty sure it will be no problem for that knife, and I really regret fact that I simply cannot afford to buy this knife and play with it and test it.

And I think it is amazing that nowadays one with enough skill and knowledge can design a knife and start it's quality production and offer nice non-custom price for that.

Since this topic has drifted by request of the OP.

Rob, this can appear to be a double shill, this guy has a very small and basic website that 'was birthed by a review he posted on an un-named forum. proof from his site. http://kniveswideopen.com/about.html

What's relevant is that instead of linking to this awesome review, he links to Combative Edge.

Here's where the possible shilling takes place, you link to a guy (who as far as I know doesn't post here) who links to your site.

Why would you tell a potential customer to go f*ck himself, even with a smiley face?

Edit: Well, time while writing my post sure straightened out the potential customer theory.

Hey Skimo.. Sometimes in writing without seeing expression things can be misunderstood...I was smiling as I wrote it. I still however was not terribly pleased with the passive aggressiveness.

It may appear to be Shill however I can assure you that it's not.

Mark bought an M1 from me just as any other customer. He sent me an email telling me about his site and that he was going to test and review it.. I said sure go ahead.

It turned out to be a great review so I wanted to point people in the direction.

wow! i didn't know cutting a tire is tactical stuff. or some of the other stuff mr idaho is asking. also mr. Skimo, i've been on here almost 6 years and i don't claim to know everybody who posts here. besides this is Reviewing and Testing forum. this is not the place for you to be questioning his business.

The OP intentionally drifted the topic, and I spoke to the change in topic.

I was in no way questioning his business, simply raising a legitimate concern towards what may be misconstrued as a shill operation.

Rob then made post #12 of this thread.

That pretty much settled the matter for me.

I didn't reply to Idaho, though I will agree with you that "tactical use" and a Cold Steel demo video are two separate things.

Of course we could argue what "tactical" means. In my opinion tactical means cutting unexpected materials, or using knife as "less than optimal" tool to do other job. We could look for testimonial from users of Buck 110(first tactical folder) or spyderco police(first modern tactical folder). We could find out that they were used to cut, pierce and work with almost any material. And IMO car tires are easy to obtain and quiet good approximation of SOME of jobs tactical folder could be facing.

But returning to the point. I never wanted to question Combative Edge business practice or his knife. I believe(I didin't handled it so I can't say I know) M1 knife is good and solid design.

I simply enjoy watching hard test(but not purposely destructive) I would really like to see one with M1.

And about Combative Edge suggestion that I could "enjoy myself" :)
C'mon, no big deal. I made made a cutting remark, he responded the same.

I've had an M1serr. for some time now. It's my EDC for SD. Rob also sent me a first-generation trainer, and I can tell you that grip integrity is superb. I've worked it very hard against my training dummy, and it's taken all I can give.
I plan on getting at least one more as soon $ allow.

Shill or not, all I see are links to other web sites.

The idea is to post the review here on BF.

This thread is closed. We all need to step back and think about what's going on. To recap what others have pointed out:

* This is Knife Reviews & Testing, not referrals to our own websites or those of our friends. Post it here or copy it over to here, don't link to another site. That really does feel like shilling. BF is not here as a portal.

* Watch your language. With or without smilies or asterisks, we do not want insults or vulgarity in our discussion forums. If you disagree with a comment, rebut it with substance or ignore it.

* As always, BF policy encourages you to address the topic rather than squabbling wth others.
