Any experience with either of these knives/blade materials?
I am looking for a "garage/toolbox/backyard" heavy duty knife that may on rare occasion be carried, so probably a folder. It won't be a EDC knife and will need to be able to handle HD tasks and maybe used like its not supposed to be. I have pretty much narrowed what I'm looking for down to either the M16-14/04 series or the Greco Falcon. The Falcon is a little more expensive ($10-$15) but is also a "custom" knife that is not so mainstream, which I like. One big question is the blade material. Is AUS6 or AUS8 any good? How do they compare to each other? Is 8670 better? I guess I am leaning towards the Greco but there is not much information on it and I'd like a little reassurance, or, in the alternative someone to say the CRKT is better.
I am looking for a good quality knife that's not going to fail during normal HD use(nothing crazy) that doesn't need to be too pretty and with a good blade that doesn't need sharpening every time I use it. I guess my two main questions are: Quality wise CRKT or Greco? And blade material: AUS6 or AUS8 or 8670? Thanks in advance!!........

If you need it to retain an edge, I'd say use anything *but* AUS6. The Zytel-scaled versions of the M16 all use AUS6. It locks up nicely, but I don't think it'd be as sturdy as the Greco.

Both are linerlocks, but the Greco has a whopping 3/16" thick blade. I haven't handled one yet, but I'd guess that you should go for the Greco. After having handled an M16-13Z, I think I'd rather have the Falcon. The M16 is just too thin for my tastes, and it's already the fatter Zytel version!

Love the M16. Excellent buy for a cheap but good quality folder. As others have indicated, AUS6 isn't the best edge holding material. But you got a bonus of easy sharpening and stain resistance.
If you can, look for the M16 instead of the M16-xxZ. Zytel uses AUS6 while Al scales uses AUS8 if it matters to you.
Don't know anything about the Greco.
I'm sure you can hunt a really good deal for the M16 somewhere online.
