passed on the M16 because of the flipper acually. I thought it was suppost to be a selling point but for me it wasn't.

I carry my knives right side front pocket, so it seemed to me the the flipper would actually push the blade open in side my pocket.

I've never heard anything about this on BF. Does This Ever Happen

I know a lot of you swear by your m-16 and I've been tempted every time I shop by the M16. somebody straighten me out! (not that I'm crooked or anything... well you guy know what I mean. :D )

I have been carrying my CRKT M-16 police since about 2 months before they came to market. It was given to me as a replacement due to a problem with my original M-16 bead blast. Its been a great knife and I love the flipper, BUT! I carried it on duty under my holster clipped in my right pocket, and the flipper pushed it open twice. The first time i just closed it. The second time it cut my thigh! I started carrying it in my left pocket, and the problem was solved. In my case, its better off in that pocket in case I ever need to use it to fend off a gun grab attempt. If you are planning on carrying it in your right pocket, it may open. Good luck, Reagan

You'd think they'd make it so you could put the clip on the other side or something. At least that would help.

I've been carrying an M18 medium for the last 4(?) months as my EDC. I carry it clipped to my right front side pocket with it against the right seam and have never had mine come even partially open. Could be I'm just lucky, but regardless of the reason it has never opened on me accidentally and I have never worried about it doing so.

I've heard the odd case or two about this happening. Personally I don't like the flipper. It works great but I think it spoils the overall continuity of the knife. This is why the only M16 I have is the small CF version without the flipper.

Never had a problem when I was carrying the M16 (Passed it to my dad actually, he keeps it in the car [he has general fear of sharp knives, but he needs it at one of the jobs])
I'd still carry a M16, would have to smooth out the thumbstud and the pivot and I still love the flipper.
However I would probably try and save up and get the real deal from Mr. Carson ;)

Had it happen once but no accident. And the only way i carry ny m-16 is at the bottom of my left pocket. I dont like the feel of the thumbbstuds rubbing against my clothes, ruins the pockets.

Since i have another knife on my belt on the right, there should be no problem of concealed weapons hassles.

I carried an M16 for a while and loved the flipper. I find myself wishing I could put one on my other knives. No problems with accidental opening, but I carried it in my back pocket because somehow the shape of the knife, my pants, and my body conspired to make it fit poorly in my front pocket. I believe some M16 models are (or were) available without the flipper also. Also look at the newer M18's - slightly different blade shape (recurve!), slightly better steel (8), and LAWKS (good thing). So, no, I didn't have any problems with the flipper; I did, however, have problems with AUS 6, which is why I'm not buying any more CRKT's until they start using a decent steel.

Latest TK ads show new ones in the M-16 series where all sizes of the knife comes with flippers and LAWKS. They even have a model with double flippers.

Carried an M-16 daily for over a year. Never a problem.

I have a new M-18 and have no problems at all.
I like the Apache to carry on duty.

I rotate an M16-03Z as one of several knives that ride right front pocket daily (you may have heard how dang corrosive my sweat is?).

I find the flipper to be a hoot! It and the clip position on the 03Z are what made me buy one! In the perhaps two dozen days I have carried it I have had zero problems.

I find the thumbstuds a bit clunky, but as to wearing out pockets I destroy jeans with rips, burn holes, acid burn holes, stains that absolutely will not come out fast enough that it is a non-issue.

And did I mention I SWEAT!!!!
