M2 Blades....

I assume that you are asking in the BM family only.

If you are asking about folders then the 710HS and the 910 HS are indeed the only ones in production right now that use the M2 tool steel.

There also was a special edition 814 mini AFCK in M2.

BM also makes the 140HS Nimravus in M2 and they made a special edition of the 145 Nim Cub in M2.

These are the only models I know of in M2. Hope this helps.

Some that were forgotten are:
Benchmade 800M2
835HS - this was part of the "Knife Of The Month" series BM did in 2000
705 Forum Knife which was M2, but good luck finding one
732HS - variation of the 730 with all black G10 handles and M2 blade
730CFHS - limited edition w/carbon fibre scales & M2 blade

I'm pretty sure the 145M2 was a normal production piece while it lasted. They did a limited run with 440C not too long ago.

There are a few folks building blades out M2. I have several Bud Nealy's out of M2.

Yeah there's High Speed (M2) steel out there than we may think...I'm not nuts about it personally.., but I suppose it's not bad, and also relatively inexpensive...

M2 is wonderful stuff. I've tried most of the wonder stainless steels, but my 710HS will out-cut and out-last them all.

ive got two 800's with m2. Love both of em. One plain, one part serrated. The part serr was my main edc for a year or so,and has seen better day. Im sending it back to BM for sharpening,etc...

With DMT diamond hones and ceramics, its not hard to sharpen either.

You just have to know the right people. Well, that and get VERY LUCKY!
 :D I sure like the looks of that new 705-02 and I like
D-2 steel a whole bunch!

M2 is great stuff. Some people like the edge holding capability, but to me that is secondary to how sharp I can get the edge, and how nicely it cuts.

I think 52100 and 1085 cut as well and take as good an edge, but I have not found a production folder using these blade steels.

I use my M2 Nimravious as my primary medium camp knife. I am very happy with the ease of sharpening and edge holding.

'Are there any other companies....making blades in M2?'

My 1st custom knife I bought was from Ken Largin www.kelgin.com Although I requested it to be made from 440C, Ken suggested M2 High speed tool steel. Gave him the OK & have been very pleased with it! Had a 2nd knife made from M2 also. Some say it's a great steel, others say it's to 'brittle'. Here's the 1st knife - with Elk stag handle slabs:
