M2 or S30V?

I know that this is a pretty much useless question, as both steels are pretty much tops as far as blade steels go, but still it interests me.

Has anyone actually done a decent comparison of the two? CLiff? Joe? anyone? I would assume that they come out pretty close, but which one do you guys think is actually a better steel.

Just to make things have some meaning lets say we are talking about a 3-4 inch blade folding knife.

Everything I have read says that M2 is less corrosion resistant, but that is pretty much it.

Which one holds an edge better? Which one takes a keener edge? Which one is tougher at comparable hardness?

Just looking for a general comparison.

Thanks.

Choosing a Ritter Grip? :D

Nah, just wondering. As tempting as the Ritter grips are, I don't think I can justify to myself spending that kind of cash on an FRN handled knife.

If I had to pick any of the Grips or mini-Grips, I'd just get the Cabelas model in D2. I can't imagine their being enough difference in all three of those steels to make much of a difference for an EDC.

Especially when you are like me and sharpen them every other day anyway. :D

M2 vs. S30V: higher hardenable, slightly tougher, finer grained, much lower corrosion resistance (a non-stainless steel).
