Had a thought about the new Sharpmaker (M204) which I hear rumors is being delayed while the accompanying video is perfected. I, for one, would be proud to purchase an M204 and video in its current state (I'm going to buy one anyway when they're released.) and provide Spyderco with an evaluation. I've been using the original for better than ten years and I'd be happy to contribute a critique of the SharpMaker and video just 'cause I think it would be fun. I'll bet there are other forumites, with and without SharpMaker expertise who would be willing to contribute. How about it everybody? Anyone else into volunteer work?

No Kidding.

Seriously, I think the BladeForums.com members would be the perfect target audience to use for feedback on the 204 sharpener. Lord knows we've already taken enough orders for them.

Sal, how about it? Care to release some of the preproduction ones here for feedback?

Sign me up! Having several of the old Sharpmakers and teaching the Scouts how to use it, I might qualify...

Sal,

Will the 204 be available without the video also? I'm not sure but I don't think US
videos will run on machines in this country. Perhaps one of my compatriots could enlighten me

. Maybe the ones without the video could be released sooner, I want a Sharpmaker so badly that I might break down and buy the old model if I have to wait much longer

Hey Clay, How about a trade? I'll send you a minty old Sharpmaker for some Ozzie Boy Scout stuff? I am donating the other two to the Camp when I get the new 204.

I'll chat with the Sales department and see if there is a way to send out the tool now , you send in the card, we'll send you the video and book later (or maybe the old book now) and the new book and video later.

That would be great, Sal, we've already got 14+ orders for them we can't fill!

Send 'em all, I'm sure we'll find people willing to get them. Especially when it will help BladeForums.com get our much needed server.

BTW Folks, when the Sharpmaker 204 gets here, expect a first hand review of it and the video.

I would be glad to take one now and get the video and book later. I have been wanting one to try out for a long time now but have been waiting for the updated version.

Regards,

Copfish,

Thanks for the offer but I've waited so long I think I can hold out a little longer, especially if there is a chance of getting one before the video is finished. Besides my involvement with the Scouts finished about 25 years ago, so I don't know if I could find much that would interest you.
Now if I can just get something from the doctor to stop this twitch....

Sorry, no can do. Product liability requires that safety info in the instructions must go with tool. However, we've decided to ship with a book and not the video. Video to be added later and mailed to early buyers. Early May is planned shipping.

It's a very nice piece and in my opinion, the optimal sharpener. Especially for serrations. It allows one to get his serrations "really sharp" which eliminates the tearing a snagging of a dull serration. This allows one to really appreciate what a sharp serration can do. Sorry for the sales pitch.

Oh well. Understand the liability issue. Just a thought of how we Forumites could help a favorite manufacturer. Keep up the excellence! Christopher
