M3 Parkerizing

Some of the earlier WW II blades were given greater attention to the finish. There was a process somewhere between bluing and parkerization that gave the blade a very smooth matte look. Later on as the need increased so went the quality of the finishes including grinds, polishing and overall fit & finish.

Most mil spec blades are roughly finished - cost being an important factor. Pick up an Ontario Mark II; BAD!! The Ontario Marine Bayonet is pretty good though.
