Super excited to try out this new Dpx HEST classic decade and it seems nice for a good price. $215 + 10% off for first orders for a M390 blade, titanium frame lock with steel insert, micarta handle, and made by LionSteel in Italy. They got rid of the rotolock in these newer models.

Anyone have any experience with this particular one? Unfortunately not many posts on these knives after the incident that occurred in the past with this company.

I owned a DPX HEST/F just long enough to determine that it had essentially zero detent (I got a lemon, it happens) and a major hot spot from the protruding pocket clip (part of the design, although YMMV by hand size/shape), after which it went back in the box and was returned.

Fit and finish was quite nice, as expected from LionSteel, and I liked the chunky aesthetic of it. Taking off the gimmicky safety seems like a positive change.

Yeah the detent is definitely better in the new knife with the steel lock face insert on the titanium lock. I almost want to loosen the pivot a bit to make it easier to open.

While a neat idea, the rotoblock was just added weight imo to an already heavy knife.

LionSteel makes a great knife! I have a heft triple black from the limited numbered production run before they made it a regular in the line up!! Had a regular D2 model as well which I gave my brother. While RYP maybe a.polarizing figure I like his designs and LionSteel's implementation!!
The hest is a solid knife too! I've no complaints with Niolox steel either.IMG_20200215_034939.jpg

I'm on the fence regarding DPx.

I generally like his designs, like the bottle opener and how he tries to make his knives useful.

Sometimes that desire to include "extras" produces features I don't like. The spike pommel thing being a big turn-off.

I had a heft fixed blade. Liked the knife a lot, lionsteel really did it right. Super good build quality. Hated the sheath (i really hate tactical nylon sheaths). Sold it because I found a buyer willing to pay me what I had in it and I hadn't started doing my own kydex.

I'd be willing to buy another, but I've moved into other makes that are much more my style. Did give me a very positive opinion of lionsteel though.

Dpx sells after market sheaths on their site and also thru Amazon. I like this DeSantis sheath alot.. Works well and has adjustable retention screw!!IMG_20210225_071258.jpg IMG_20210225_071320.jpg IMG_20210225_071334.jpg
