the title kind of explains my question/problem. got a knife i'd been wanting for quite awhile in m390. showed up with an almost obtuse angle(didn't measure -but honestly felt like 110 degrees inclusive). no problem i think, i would have likely reprofiled in any case so no biggie. wrong. anyone able to shed a little light for me? links or personal knowledge would be appreciated. i am using only diamond on this, as i understand(maybe incorrectly) that that is what works best. i had a little luck tonight by simply concentrating on one side, so perhaps that's part of the answer. i'm contemplating(horror!) paying some one to do it professionally but i'd much rather not. my knife, i need to understand how to sharpen the sucker. thanks, Neal

With Naniwa Chosera I have no problems.
With stones ceramic or diamond quality you should have no problems.

When I reprofile I use a lansky extra coarse (70grit) and It works really well check your grit make sure it's appropriate it should be the coarsest you have also make sure your stone is not clogged if so unclog it there are multiple ways depending on your type of stone just search bf there are a number of posts out there about this. Try working it down to the right angle for example if it's 60 degrees don't go right to let's say 17 go first to 40 then 25 then 17. See what I mean I did that on a Nrs knife that I couldn't sharpen and it worked if you grit is above 300 it is going to take awhile so just buy a coarser stone unless you have gallons of elbow grease
