Anyone have data on toughness? Ideal would be a datsheet that has a direct comparison of a charpy testing of all 3.

Ii will post what I have. none directly comparing though
some comparison

M4:

I know nothing of 3v because i dont own it or dont intend to spend that much on a fixed blade (buying my first busse later and calling it finished on fixed blades)

Thank you. From that data the best I can get (interpolate/guess) is that M390 is around 25 ft-lbs at its optimum HT(for both toughness and slicing). Seems to place it very close to CPM-M4. Maybe slightly more abrasion resistant and maybe slightly less tough.

Please don't take those numbers as absolutes -it doesn't quite work like that.
I have a nice custom 8" chopper and that's a fine use for the steel. I don't know if I'd pick that for a 4" slicer type [typical hunting knife].

Which numbers?

The question is what type of test was used to get the impact numbers. At 500 degrees C temper you get 62RC, and about 35j. 3j = 26ft-lbs.
