Which is heavier, the M43 or the 18" WW2? I think the WW2 is about a half an inch longer.

Has anyone handled, and or tested both?

I am pretty sure the WWII.

I have a 15" WWII, Jewel, and she is almost as heavy as my M43. As far as kuks go I think the M43 runs 'thin' compared to what the kamis normally make (still pretty stinkin thick compared to what normal people think).

I am sitting at my desk at school right now, so I cant give you any measurements...wait for the experts.

Repeated weighings on my handy-dandy kitchen scale average 1 lb., 12 oz. for the M43. The 16 1/2" WWII averages 1 lb., 4 oz. I don't have the 18" WWII, and it isn't safe to extrapolate. Besides, using this kitchen scale for its' intended purpose would give new meaning to "Adventures in Eating".

ha-hm.

Relatively no difference then, I would think. Somewhere between the shorter and longer blades.

The blade shape of that M43 is very pleasing to the eye :D

However my Visa says I can't buy anything for a little while :(

Maybe I'll go look for soft drink bottles in the park :)

My 17.5" (nominal 18") WWII khukuri weights in at 1.51 LB. Plus or minus 0.5" is within kami tolerances.

That throws off everything. I guess I'll just have to close my eyes and pick one eventually.

Why is weight an issue?

I got the WWII 18" and it is a large knife, but not remarkably heavy for the size. A lot of the guys here seem to like the M43 so that'll prolly be the next one I get. My testing with the WWII and general experience with khuks is not very complete but I do very much like the WWII. I think you'll be happy with either one of them. If not, buy them both like Uncle Bill said :p

I prefer a lighter blade. Usually I say "because it can be swung faster". However, it probably is my own physical weakness. :p

One can suppose that after much use you do get used to the greater mass of the larger knife. Another thing is that I'm kind of a weight freak when it comes to carrying stuff on hikes (or just lazy) :)

The blade shape of the M43 is just pleasing to the eye. I'll prolly end up getting one of those first. :D

I like the M43,have two, will get a 3rd, then a 4th then....!hee! Hope you all don't have fast fingers!:D Ned another Durba & Kess 43,or a Bura or a...!

The M43 is a rather new item. Ask Uncle if he has any in stock. Just keep em' away from Mr. Clifton :p

I'm looking forward to getting my M43 to try out. If it beats out the WWII I will be very impressed. If I recall correctly the M43 is considerably thinner (perhaps 1/4", I could be wrong).
