M43 variations (length)

I currently have an 18" M43, and I know it to generally come in at 18" by default. I love it tons, but it's a little too much knife for me. I've read some threads about shorter versions, though these tend to be older/wiser blades. I'm pretty certain that a custom length can be special ordered directly. What I'm wondering is: has anyone ordered/received a shorter M43 recently? I'm interested in something between 15" - 16.5".

Or better yet, any insights as to whether or not a few may be showing up in DOTDs anytime soon? Auntie? Karda?

Thanks in advance for any info!

I can't seem to find the thread right now, search isn't bringing it up, but not too long ago there was a 16.5 inch smaller, lighter M-43 variant offered here on the DOTD. They were snapped up rather quickly and we haven't seen anymore yet. Perhaps at some point I will have to put a bug in Aunties ear about it, as I would've liked one also. :)

Well Karda, if you're able to plant that seed, would you mind terribly if I asked you to give me a heads up if and when they do come through? :D

Will do if I can remember, Remind me by email every once in awhile.:D
I can tell you that anything new is going to be at least a couple of months down the road while we get the recent restructuring under control and are satisfied with quality and output. I also would like to research to get specs on vintage pieces so that we might produce something along those lines. This of course will depend on customer interest. It would probably be a good idea for those interested to chime in here.

I got a 15" balance last year at Halloween which was basically a mini M43. I had posted a thread on it around then

I have several like new condition WWII vintage M43 kukris if you like to use one for reference.

I would also be interested in something inbetween the 15 and 18.5" models that I have if they were made

Thank you Dirtbiker!
Do you still have, I think it was called "pilots M-43"?
I would be interested in the specifics of that one and a regular style M-43.

I still have the aircrew and standard length M43. Let me know how I can help.

If you could send me or post here the OAL Length, blade length, handle length, handle diameter, spine thickness, blade width at widest point and waist width, Of Both and Anything else you can think of to be beneficial to reproducing them would be immensely helpful.
I would like to get at least a few of these produced, but I can't promise anything other than I will ask based on interest.

I have the data handy, but Dirtbiker, it wouldn't hurt to compare different khuks if you've got the info. Anyway, this is what I have for what appears to be a more or less standard unmarked M43 Mk. II variant and an "aircrew" version of same. Take care.
