I have a M6 Scout in 22LR/ 410 Shotgun 3" chamber. I've added a Red/Green Dot Sight to it plus a 9 rund holder that IS pop riveted to the stock. My question is this, I love my SRK that I have and I'm looking for some sort of Tomahawk type weapon to also hang on my belt. Anyone have a favorite or knows of a certain type tht is better than others. I'm on a fixed income due to my disability, so any advice is welcome.

You're fortunate to have the M6 Scout...a great little niche gun. Mine has been a great performer:

As to an inexpensive, outdoors hawk, it's really hard to beat Cold Steel's Frontier, Trail or Pipe Hawks. There are several here that have a lot more experience and dirt time but for their design, they are quite functional.

ROCK6

I'll 2nd the cold steel hawks for very little money and a bit of elbow grease you get a decent tool

I appreciate ya advice. I fixed my M6 up ta look similar ta yours Rock6 for ya made the most sense. I'm gonna look through the net on sites and attempt ta locate these awks ya'll have shown. Thanks again for the help.

Ta tell ya the truth grahng, I haven't seen one for under $700 in several years. They became a great survival tool and everyone was snapping them up as fast they could. That just drove the price higher and higher.

Instead of a "tomahawk", consider a Himalayan Imports khukuri. They are members here and sell "deals-of-the-day" cheap. I have a small Gransfor hatchet for tent pegs etc but I prefer chopping, digging, and fighting if need be, with my khukuri.

Scottman I appreciate your input for I have tried various slugs in mine. I wasn't happy at first with the groups, so I tokk it to a Gunsmith buddy and he opened the choke. The muzzle now measures .410 and a Remington slug slides through with not being constricted. I'm happy now with the groups of the shotgun (.500 @ 25yds), and .295 with the 22lr rifle barrel with 40 grain projectiles. I've tried other weights but they don't group well, might as well just be using the shotgun barrel.

I had an M6 years ago when they were first introduced by SA. Mine was a .22 Hornet over the .410 bore. They bring high prices, but honestly I'd rather have a copy of the original M4 bolt action .22 Hornet with the wire stock.

Good for you! Now try the 450 mongo :)

Myself I would have liked a 357 rifled lower barrel, I know some guys who take deer regularly with 357 handguns (very accurate guns). For me not buying the gun years ago, I didn't want to sink more money into it, so I sold it. It didn't make sense to me in current configuration after I tested it.

Now I'm playing withthe su 16 which is about the same weight as the scout. I also believe the new savage 42 has an open choke so maybe it's accurate at close range with the 410 slugs.

I noticed that one of the guys on the TV show, Ultimate Survival Alaska, carries an M6.

I added a hand braided sling ta my M6 and my wife likes it now. I have reduced the wrappings ta half of the barrels, then I braided a sling. I was trying ta figure how I wasgonna attach the sling at the butt-stock and remembered I had some chain links in my shop, so I found one that will unscrew and I fitted this in the opening on the butt-stock. The sling is tied into this link and now I have a sling, may not look like yours, Rock6, but it's functional. I can tighten up the sling when I'm shooting off-handor I can sling it over my shoulder. I wish I had the program ta post pictures with, but alas I don't and that doesn't really matter ta me.
