Friends,

I have an M7 bayonet that needs some repair (replacement of link that fits between the grip and guard). If you have a recommendation on a knife maker or company who can assist, I'd appreciate it. Google let me down in this regard.

Item five is what I need reflected in the below schematic:

Here's a color shot - part / link is annotated by the red arrow:

I've also considered having some custom work done on it (removal of pommel and adding custom grips so it's not so much a bayonet but a fighting knife). Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Joe

Just about every M7 out there has a space between the grip and guard. There was no spacer.

From the technical manual. No spacer.

It's a BOC model. Nothing special about it aside from I've had it for a while and would like to get it back to factory condition.

BOC is the most common M7 bayonet made. If you have any plans to modify it from a bayonet into a fighting knife, the part you are concerned about could probably be removed anyhow.

The "link" can easily be replaced with a couple of small spot welds to secure the guard or new grips can be fashioned to hold the guard against the hilt of the blade.

I have seen a few modified M7s and have a decent size M7 collection. Feel free to contact me if you need help.

Thanks - will do! I contacted Ontario and it sounds like they are going to try and scrounge up a link for me. I'll post back with any updates.

Ontario came through with a replacement link. Now, I just need to get a precision fit to close the 1/16th handle gap.
