Hi Guys,
My lovely girlfriend just bought me an early Xmas present from an antique store: a Vietnam Era M7 bayonet for the M-16 rifle (it was stamped "US M7 BOC" which with a little research turned out to be Bauer Ordnance Corp).
I'd be interested if someone has any stories/knowledge/trivia to share about this classic military issue. Also, I understand that the blade steel is AISI 1080 (please correct me if I got that wrong) and I am unfamiliar with its properties other than it's high-carbon. Is there anything I should know about this steel, say, about its maintenance or preservation?
Much obliged!
