Hello All,

I'm sure this has been covered but my searches didn't reveal anything.

I was rooting around tonight and came across my old M9. We deployed to Desert Shield at the time with M7's but sometime after arrival were issued M9's. So I don't know the date of manufacture but I reckon I acquired it around January '91.

Is there a way of determining if Buck made it?

Thanks for the replies. Mine reads PHROBIS III.

Buck did make that. Is there a stamp on the reverse?

No sir, the other side is naked.

Wow, all these years... I carried that knife well beyond Desert Storm. It was on my field gear until I separated in '99 and I never had a clue Buck made it.

The very first knife I ever bought was a Buck 102 more than forty years ago. Always been a Buck fan and live not far from the factory so this is really cool. Just cuz... :)

Thanks again!

Hey, was wondering if you could help. I'm making a tribute bayonet but I'm having a hard time getting the distinctive ring guard measurements. If you have the time and a pair of
vernieers/calipers to relay a few measurements for me, I'd really appreciate it. I need;
1.The height between the tang and the start of the ring.
2.The inside diamater of the ring.
3.The width of the ring itself.
4.The depth of steel used to make the guard.

Original true military contract will say Phrobis only. If labeled Buck on one side and Phrobis on the other it was a consumer market item. In 1991 5,000 were made for the USMC by Buck and marked as such (not Phrobis).

Hey I just wanted to thank you for this. I know text on a screen from some random source is pretty ignore-able so I appreciate you going the extra length to help me, thank you.
