Why isn't the M9 listed on the Buck website?
Why are they so hard to find? I cant find the on any internet stores site. What the difference between the civilian and the military model?

I've seen them on the net and in knife shops in the Denver area. My biggest complaint is that I have one that was issued to me way back in 88-89 and the plastic clip has long since broken. Can not find anybody that carries these clips anywhere.

M9s have been discontinued. I carried them in my store. I think I have about three left.

The main difference between the civilian model and the military issue was the stop on the wire cutter device on the scabbard. The civilian version has a stop to keep the blade from going all the way to the scabbard and the issue version didn't have that provision. I think that was the only difference. Somebody at Buck can elaborate.

What clip broke on your knife?

Dennis you have that right. The only difference was in the sheath. A stop was added to ensure that the knife blade would stop after cutting wire without cutting your fingers. We worked with the military to allow us to incorporate that change into the contract but it was too much change to the technical data package and operating instructions so we were not allowed. We were free to incorporate this change in the civilian model.

Tell me what broke on your knife? you said a plastic clip? We might still have some parts left to replace a broken item in customer service.

The M9 remains one of the most rugged and indestrucible knives we have ever made. Our business was down on the knife so when tooling needed to be replaced the volumes did not justify the expense. We still remember how to make them.

The clip that broke was the plastic clip that holds the sheath to the metal clip that attaches to the web belt, it's the quick release clip and it broke in North Dakota at about -60F getting back into a truck

It looks like I can remove the entire belt clip from the back of the sheath and just attach a new one., if I can find one.

If you know a G.I. Mil. Sales might still have some.I saw a recent pic of a SEAL with one fixed. They are around.
