As much as I love the ratmandu, chopweiler and howlers... this one takes the cake!

You have outdone yourself this time Eric!!!

I love the anticipation of getting the mail and finding the priority mail box inside. I nearly destroy my fingernails trying to open it... ignoring the fact that I have a spyderco in my pocket...

You open the box... unwrap it like a kid at Christmas... as fast as possible to reveal your prize... Sometimes I do this and am disappointed because the knife doesn't fit my hand... or it doesn't look like the knife in the picture, maybe it is bigger or smaller than I thought... This has happened before.

But not this time. The M9 is gorgeous!!! It is the kind of knife that Jim Bowie himself would have dreamed about. One can only ponder the fate of the Alamo if Mr. Bowie was armed with this knife... ;)

Thanks a ton to Eric and the folks at Swamp Rat! You guys are the best. :)

Thanks man!

Funny story (to me at least)... My 11 year old daughter asked me "...what are you going to do with a knife that big???"

My reply... "anything I want..."

It is an exceptional value for the $$$ as well. I'm just not sure I can bring myself to beating her... she is soooo pretty! :o

I keep hearing more and more good things about these - I missed the chance at the preorder, but am hoping I can get a chance at getting one once the preorders are filled. Looks to be a gorgeous blade!

It just may grow to be my favorite blade, period. Holy cow this thing is nice!

Lucky dogs.:grumpy: That thing looks bad azz, congratulations to all that scored.

:o Sorry for the noob questions, but what type of steel is it & what type of grind does it have?

Thanks :)

The steel is SR101. Here is the deal on SR101.

"SR101-- (a variation of 52100) is the combination of an extremely fine-grained tool steel and a proprietary multi-step tempering protocol. This process includes the incorporation of a deep cryogenic treatment for grain refinement (and in some knives) differential tempering which adds greatly to the overall toughness and strength."

Frankly, the only difference I've seen between SR101 and INFI is that SR101 is much more prone to rusting. No big deal if you just wipe it down after use. The edge retention and toughness are superb.

They are SR101...Modified 52100
I believe it is a full flat grind:thumbup:
