Ive been carrying a benchmade 940 osborne for about a year now. Im 15 and was wondering if this is illegal in MA. Im a knife nut and i dont care how old i am i always have a knife:). im just wondering if i should be carrying something smaller.

MA has no length limit in state law. Cities like Boston, however, do. So it can possibly depend on where you are in MA.

Dighton and Bristol County, far as I can tell, doesn't have any knife laws. But you'd probably have to ask local PD to be sure. If you do and they claim some kind of prohibition, make them give you the statute that says so.

As a fellow MA resident, I know for certain that Lawrence, Lynn, Salem, Revere, Boston and Cambridge have a blade length limit of 2.5" for knives that are being carried in public, concealed or otherwise. Lowell and Worcester are considering enacting such local ordinances. Exceptions are made for those carrying knives for employment and sporting purposes, such as fishing or hunting.

I live in Beverly. We have the same law. Stupid pols took the Boston law and applied it to here.
I am in the process of trying to change it.
First by working with the council and if that doesn't work sue them.
The law violates the Commonwealth's equal protection laws. Will also try to use Heller.

About five years ago.
Our pols are really clueless.
The city solicitor will not answer basic questions as to what defines a knife or how it is measured.
I think with the Nordyke decision coming down from the 9th incorporation will help out our cause.
