Today I finally bought myself a Wenger SI.
I since before own a alox 02 Victorinox soldier. I got my first son that year and selebrated with a knife, my becoming a father knife.
I also own 2 that are dedicated to my sons, a 02 and a 05, the years they were born.
Since 07 I have a engraved alox electrician that my wife gave me as a gift when we married. I liked that modell big time but the wedding knife got kind of not expendable so I bought myself another electrician that I also tryed to make reed colour. Not best coulour so it has woren of quite a bit. Still I use that knife in my carpentar workpants but its not geting realy attached to me. It has though with broad marginal showed me how strong a aloxknife is.
I have had this idea for a while to dremmel down the canopener to a straight and narrow screwdriver for electrical montage but the fathersknife has felt a little holy. So the other week I saw kamagongs beautiful scout knife in Carls lounge and a few things got together and I ordered a Wenger SI because of the hollow rivet and the bail. Once in the 80ties I had a viktorinox soldier with a hollow rivet for a while but gave it away to a hope to be father in law. Now bouth the knife and the girl is wage memories. Pity on the knife but as it turned out to be with my family good in all other ways. Anyway the SI came today and I have already used the dremel for the cuting in the canopener. I have also screwed with a lamp and its a pefect size screwdriver for the purpouse. This wenger knife is in most ways so simular to my victorinoxes but still I feel a difference. Its only 98 % of the victorinox quality but with the bail and now with the modified tool the knife has those magical things that makes the difference between sterile and personal.
For sure I still hope for an american bone and carbon steel scoutknife with a bail but this knife will do good in the meantime.

I greatly enjoyed reading your post Bosse. I'd like to see photos of your modified Wenger SI please. Thanks.

Smiling knife.
Im geting closer to sending a picture. last time I tried was in the autumn. I have good fotoequipment like a mobile and a Ipad that sends pictures to my photobucket that I was advised to get. Last time I tried to send pictures I made something wrong an just numbers but no picture showed up. This was now 1/2 a year ago and mabye I soon is in mood to try again. Now when even Carl jackknife posts pictures im a lonely dinosaur. God knows I have a few good knifes in great suroundings to show.

For picturing the SI though just think a straight line from the middle of the knife to the screwdriver tip. Simple and it alowes to turn those screcs with plastic sarg around them in electric devises. I hade worked a little with other tools to during the years on SAKs and remaking a orange peeler to a eyeglass screwdriver is one of the best.

This is a nice evening and for the first time in a long time I have the time to write here at the forums a little. I often read and is updated but mostly I do so on my surfpad in bed so I dont get to write.

Does he????

I like the Wenger SI and carried one for quite a while but went over to a Vic Pioneer recently. They are all good, you can't go wrong with any of them.
I'd love to see some pics too Bosse.

Hi Bosse! Great story, and I'd love to see pics, too.

I never use the can opener on my SAK's (and if I had to, I figure I could open a can with the blade or awl anyway) ..... well, I got bored a while back and decided to modify the can opener on my new version Soldier knife. First I made it into a fleam, but then I decided to get rid of that and just make it a long screwdriver. I don't carry it much, but I always have an Electrician or Elec. Plus in my pocket.
