Class act? Jeez, I usually get accused of being a pariah! I must be slipping...

Oh, and I'm only 32, so I hope I don't come off as being crusty!
Yeah, several years ago now Hotmail decided to limit access to its accounts from Entourage and Outlook. Pretty ironic, no? Using a Microsoft email address and an expensive Microsoft software, and they wouldn't even let you check your email unless you get online to do it. If I had to guess, it probably had to do with the advertising that is plastered over every inch of the online site!
So, they changed from having free access to Hotmail via Entourage to requiring a paid account, which made lots of people mad. I guess the funtionality is very, very inconsistent, too.
Anyway, they DID grandfather the accounts that were already in existence, so I can still check my two Hotmail accounts using Entourage (and now Mail, see below). I will say that Hotmail access from Entourage has been REALLY sketchy at times. Most recently I couldn't access my accounts anymore, and then learned that in another attempt to screw their paying customers, Microsoft was now limiting access to Hotmail only using Microsoft 2004, and I was still using MS Office X from a few years ago.
SOOOOO.... I upgraded and that worked, a little, but then I started getting constant error messages of different types. I would delete an email, then it would download it again, etc etc. REALLY annoying.
At this same time I have been using iCal for the past couple months for all my calendar use, so I decided to utilize Mail more since I was already going away from Entourage's calendar function. There is a free plugin for Mail available out there called "httpmail." It's a plugin that, when you go to create a new Account, gives you an "httpmail" option. I don't know the ins and outs, but I do know that it will allow you to check your Hotmail again if you either have a paid account or a grandfathered account.
So, I spent a couple hours last night setting all my folders up, etc etc to keep things organized. I think once I use mail some more than I'll really learn to appreciate it!
