Mac's mighty mouse is trying my patience big time. Specifically the scroll ball. There are pages and pages on the web of people having the same problem. Apple's cleaning advice is not much help and only provides a very temporary fix. I am tired of the on again off again scroll ability. Can anyone recommend a good optic mouse with a scroll wheel that is mac compatible?

I use the macallymini mouses we got a hand full of them, they last and now they have the cordless models cheap too, 12 14 bucks

I have an old Mac one button mouse you can have for free :D

I use a Logitech MX1000 wireless laser mouse, and I couldn't be happier. It replaced a Kensington wired optical mouse, which acted funky from day one.

Thomason; I'm currently rocking a mac mini, and I use a usb 2 button w/ scroll wheel that came from work. It proudly says HP. works like a charm-10 bucks, probably if you bought one

plus, you also get to right click instead of holding the command key and clicking.

I've heard that the procedure on this page works well: http://www.macobserver.com/tip/2006/08/11.1.shtml

Another twist is to moisten the cloth with some alcohol and rub the ball all over it. Two points: the cloth must be clean and mostly lint free, a well used and washed t-shirt should work fine. The first time you do it, it might take a while to get all of the gunk out.

If none of those procedures work, google "cleaning mighty mouse" and you should come up with some other suggestions.

Hope this helps!

once you go to a optical mouse, you will never go back to a ball mouse.

The mac-ally opti jr is a great mouse, and the ice mini are what we have several of. in fact my son brings his to school so he does not have to suffer the crap they issue.
