 Once you go Mac you never go back!!!

My daughter has one. Has had no problems with it. My theory is that the money you "save" buying a PC gets spent on Tylenol and Advil that you need for the headaches you get when your PC doesn't work right :D.

Congrats on the Macbook Pro!! I am a huge Mac fan, and always have been.

Fantastic machines these Macbooks. Hate the pricetag but love the product. Shortly after I bought mine I was watching ShopNBC and they had those 300 dollar Acer "netbooks" on. I was sick. Had I spent too much? Had I been burned?

I have a machine that works. Always works. Goes back and forth from the workplace to home use, gets tossed around, dirty dusty. It's the Spyderco Endura of laptops. Still learning some of the features. There's a lot of difference between these Macs and what I've been used to. But hey, learning keeps a fella sharp, right?

No regrets.

On thing I read in my free subscription to Macworld is that a lot of necessary software is included when you buy a mac, you don't need anti virus subscriptions, has a lot of little things that add up when you buy them for a PC that doesn't have them.

So in the long run, you tend to save money buying a Mac, if you're conservative, no doubt you can spend many times more on a speced up Mac to a PC.

That being said, I would never trade my MBP for any Windows or LInux Laptop. Not only does it run better, it looks better and has better fit and finish than any laptop I've ever seen.

No creaks no cracks, no soft spots that bend when pressure is applied, just rock solid.

I bought my MacBook just before they all went aluminum. :o

Next is going to be a MBP though. I've used Mac's my entire life. I don't hate Windows, I just feel it's slow and inefficient. Start Menu / Task Bar :barf:

The bossman's grandson has a three year old Dell that (when he got it) was top shelf. I mean, it had everything. He went off to college with it and basically it went unused. He did a lot of partying and not much schooling. Anyhoo, he works with us now and we recently got high speed wireless. He unpacked the Dell and got online. First few days he did okay. Was able to surf the internet and get his email. Don't really know what else he does, prolly a bunch of facebook stuff, but the first few weeks went smoothly.

Then it all went south. Now he can't get online. Nothing. First it was slow. Now it's no go. Meanwhile, my Mac just clucks right along. It seemed that when he first got online at the workplace, he hadn't used the computer in so long that every single thing he tried to do required an "update". He dutifully downloaded every one of em, along with the newest edition of Windoze. That may have had something to do with it. Dunno. I have a policy. If I can't view something without an "update" or "patch". I don't view it. Simple.

He asked me what I thought and I told him... Ditch the Dell and get an Apple. Worked for me. :)

I'm in the market for a laptop and that Macbook is looking good. I got a Gateway 15inch from ShopNBC a couple of months ago and right before the 30 day return policy was to expire, the screen went bonkers. I returned it just in time to get a full refund.
Anyway, where is the best place to get a MacBook?

Don't know about laptops, but I would nearly happily trade my new iMac for this banged up PC that I'm using now. I've always used Macs but this new one is nothing but a royal PITA. I've used more tech support in three weeks than I did in ten years. Never even needed tech support before now. I would take my money back if they would give it to me. I'm calling the AG on Monday. It will take a miracle to get me to say another good thing about Mac. Never thought I would say that.

I've been using my Powerbook G4 for 5 years now. It is still running strong, even after having been dropped twice and carried around frequently. I have never reformatted it and I have pretty much ran it 24x7x365 for the time I have owned the machine.

Another mac fan here,
unibody macbook, 2.4ghz, 4gb
running snow leopard

i had never used a mac till i started my new job,
going from my old pc to a octocore mac pro with 8gb of ram is like going from a cheapo sak copy, to a sebenza
i loved how easy the operating system was to use, and switched within a few weeks

Another thing about the price is that with a Mac they are using higher quality components than what you would get with a $300 PC. Also, since Apple writes the OS and makes the computers they can make sure everything works together. With Microsoft, they have to make sure their OS runs on a myriad of different computers, so it doesn't run great on any of them.

see you can't compare a $300 pc to a Mac. I have an Aliemware and a Mac. IMO they both are good same price and the Alienware is better at gaming. Apple is good but ppl get carried away with the fanboy. The mac is used for my wifes work at home. I use with both

Make sure you have the extended coverage. I've had 2 die in the last 3 1/2 years.
A display death and a motherboard death. They wanted $1200 to replace the motherboard.
