I'm considering purchasing a somewhat small pepper spray unit, but rather than buy one from Fox Labs, I'm considering purchasing a Mace Brand unit. I like the ergonomics of the Mace Brand, from what I can see. I haven't actually held a Triple Action Personal unit (#80136), but it looks as though it fits into one's hand very well (saw them in packages at store). The ergonomic comfort, particularly in what it provides for correct orientation during deployment in a high stress situation seems too important not to consider and perhaps base my purchase on. No matter how potent the formula in a perpper spray unit is, if I cannot deploy it correctly then it's not too useful, and of course can actually do more harm than good.

Thoughts?

BTW, here's the comparable model by Fox Labs:

Looks like there's a lot more to screw up on deployment than with the faily ergonomically comfortable, flip topped Mace Brand Triple Action Personal.

i have carried that brand before because of the good ergos, havent ever had to use it though, i do know punch and fox is supposed to be the best, IIRC the mace is ok too though, punch has a similar unit (IIRC the mk11 or mk111) that is a little thicker but is pretty similar to the mace stuff, its what i carry now myself, its available from brigade quartermaster among others.......

the mace is a very convenient little can to edc imho the size is almost perfect, FWIW

I've got the Mace Pocket spray as well as a Fox Labs 2 oz and Punch II. Why not get the Fox Labs 2 oz model? It's got a spring loaded top just like the Mace Personal, and it's shorter (same height as the Mace Pocket version). I carry it in my coat pocket (business casual) and I never notice it's there. Highly recommended!

Well, I'd like something that can clip onto my pants and doesn't need a holster. When I'm out walking I wear my shirt untucked from my sweatpants, and I want something that can discretely clip to my pants wasteband.

I use an ASP Defender as a keychain. It looks like an aluminum kubotan, but it has a replaceable pepper spray cartridge inside. I just tuck the defender in my waistband and let the keys dangle. Very convenient.

I see. Be aware that the "clips" on these things are flimsy -- just a strip of plastic really. I wouldn't trust the security of the clip, but it's up to you.
