OAL of mine is 8-5/16". Ok, 8-1/4" is close enough.
I try to measure the blade length by estimated the length to which this knife could typically be plunged into something... i.e., where would the handle typically stop forward progress. By this measurement, I get 3-3/8" for the blade.
Subtracting, I get 8.25 - 3.375 = 4.875", or 4-7/8".
And of course, by tape measure, from "farthest distance to farthest distance", I get 4-7/8" also.
Those that are measuring 4.75" are not doing "farthest distance to farthest distance". I guess.
