I got to handle the Mach 1 at the knife show in Socal this weekend. I really liked it. It handled well, and it seems to be different enough from the Commander to have its own niche. For those who don't like the wave, or the blade of the Commander will love this one. I am planning on ordering a "custom production" one of these. It should be a winner. I also got to meet Derek for the first time and we had an enjoyable conversation about our favorite tacticals.

I saw the Mach-1 at the same show. I just wish it had the wave option. I like that feature on the commander but it's recurved blade doedn't do anything for me. It looks like it would be way to difficult to sharpen.

Sirgrumps-you may already know this, but I've heard that Emerson is coming out with a CQC7 with the wave feature.

I am eagerly anticipating the CQC7 with the wave feature. I only started collecting knives 3.5 years ago so the knife that I have spent more time with than any other is the CQC7 design, first from Benchmade and then from Emerson. When I first heard of the wave feature, about 6 months before the Commander came out, I flipped the clip on my benchmade CQC7 and used a dremel to grind the wave into the thumb ramp. I'll definitely be snatching this one up!

I didn't here about the wave coming out on the CQC-7. I guess I should have asked Derek a few more questions.

I know he carries a Commander and that's because he likes the wave feature. I would assume that there are prototypes of the CQC-7 with the wave and he would have one. Unless he really prefers the Commander more, even if the CQC-7 had the wave.
