The machax seems to have moved from 4140 to ??? to 1095 CroVan. Is there a reason for this other than what the producing company would use?

I think all of the beckers except for the BK24 are in 1095cv. Not sure if there is a specific reason but it's good stuff and KB does a good job with it. Might get better answers in the Becker sub-forum.

Pretty sure you're thinking of the much older Blackjack/Cincinnati Beckers made in the 80s. After that when Camillus took over they switched to something similar to 1085 and now that Ka-Bar has taken over they use 1095CV.
