Machete attacks

A machete is a very common carribean and african weapon due to it's availibility as well as everyday use in such areas. There's a lot you can do with one... I've seen someone do a full force flat side slap against some poor guy's face.

Well, some axes have rather thin blades, although I imagine there would be very few cases in which the machete is as thick as the axe blade. Maybe he/she meant width?

there is thousands of different styles of machet type blades but by far the thickest I personaly have seen was a "bilge hook" used for copising.

Can you imagine trying to heft a 23" bladed machete with a near 1/2" thick blade?
And swinging it?!

GAWD! My arm and shoulder hurt just thinking about it. :(

By the time u swing the big and heavy blade, u would have been shot or cut by a smaller knife. Thats why the fav tong weapon is the butchers knife as like the original bowie knife.

It all depends on the balance. Naturally lighter blades are faster and more maneuverable, but you would be amazed at how light and fast an 18" 1.5 pound blade can be when it's balanced properly. :)

Well, if you are within arms reach close the gap and trap it. If you are farther away run, run away or get a physical barrier between you. Good thing is that you know he is gonna slash more than stab. Easier to defend against. If defending against any blade can be easy;)

A few years back John Mellencamp was in town acting in a movie my buddy was making.I got to work security for him.We filmed alot in "bad" areas. One night a guy ran down and killed one person with a car,a guy jumped out and chased down a second guy and hacked him up with a machete.

All this,oh about 50 yards from Mellencamps trailer, which was where I was standing at the time.Runnings fine but you got to be the fastest one, which this guy wasn't.

For the record I had a Glock 23,.38 snub, folder and full sized maglite. But luck was with me as nobody ran our way.

Yeah I can in fact. I got a couple Khukuris from Himalayan Imports that are not that far off. About 4.5 pounds in fact for a 25" Khurk.

Dude, that's almost 5 lbs. of steel, my favorite forging sledge is only 3 lbs.

What are you about the size of Bigfoot or what? :D

Like I said, my arm and shoulder hurt just thinking about it. :p

BTW, that's a nice looking Khuk.

All the best,
Mike U.
