Machete Blade Steel & Types

I’m an intermediate knife enthusiast and collector. Recently, I purchased “The Book of Eli Machete” by Frank at Knives by hand. It’s an excellent well balanced blade made from 5169 spring steel. In addition, I have the “Ka Bar Cutlass Machete 1085” and the “Condor Golok Machete 1075”

In my research I’ve seen many steels used such as Damascus, 1095, and 52100. Out of these steels 52100 stood out the most aside from 5160.

I’m open to heat suggestions and options with insight and recommendations.
