Machete-BM or Khukuri-BM (thinner vs thicker)?

Hi,

Like one or two folks here, I'm waiting eagerly for the opportunity to order a FBM. Figured I'd seek some advice on selection, so I don't have to spend too much time thinking before clicking the "confirm order" button :)

I had thought of using the FBM as a "machete on steroids", for clearing brush while in the bush. I would probably use an axe for limbing deadfall, and my HOSJTac-LE for most of the cutting/light chopping.

I believe that if there is a thick vs. thin blade choice, the thinner might be better suited to brush clearing? I have an 18" Ang Khola from HI, and I don't think it would be great for clearing some bendy willow or small alder brush... it's just too thick and heavy to get a good whipping/cutting action.

Any suggestions/advice?

Before I offer any advice I will need to know just how buff you are. Are you tall and well built, did you eat your spinach and play sports in school?

Or did you spend most of your time behind the computer or in the library reading?

This is important info to know before we decide what size of Infi you should be swinging.

Happy to be of a help to you.

toss the spinich in the garbage and go with the 1/4" fbm for that use, and whip it.... whip it good

Seriously, though... I'm probably pretty average - 6' and about 180 lbs - except getting up near 50 in years... gotta be kind to my old joints :)

PS - just so we all know... that really isn't me!

for me, i'm going to use the 1/4"er if there is such a thickness.

the fbm is a monster of a blade!

i still don't understand why the expedition didn't take a few of those along for the bigger of the beasts

I hope that was not you (in the picture) cause I was gonna suggest that you do clear any brush or trees in your condition with any BM that you choose you would probably take your arm off just by holding it...and I would feel really bad......and Amy-0 does not like to feel bad:( :(

For brush clearing Use the Company Store and get the Sword.

Cost is comparable, with a much shorted wait.

My four took about 70 hours to get to my house.

That's because you told us we only needed to take a Mole Jack along with us...

Schuey2002,

Nope,

Prolly not.

I would like to get the sheaths for the first four before ordering more swords though.

My older boy has the two Black on Black ones, I kept the Tan on Tan and the Black handles on Grey.

Thinking about a couple more Tan on Tans.
