Amazing edges and balance!
Don't hesitate.
I'm contantly amazed by what this can do.

Been hoping for a 12" or 14" but I guess its not meant to be:-(

Don't despair man, they just got the machete situation sorted out as far as producing them goes. The number available has been slowly increasing lately...finally :) and as far as I know, another order was recently placed for more blanks. I believe more machetes are in our future. I want to give a 16" a go later myself.

The 16" is a good option too. The blade is not as thick, but there is just as much mass. The sweet spot is a bit further out, but frankly, you can focus a lot of power with the 16. Surprisingly, the blade is still fairly rigid. I have a pair of OKC machetes in 2.5 mm 5160 that feel like the flop around compared to the FF 16".

It's great to see more machetes being made. I'll snag a 16" one of these days. They are sweet! I own a 12" and have played with the other sizes. The 16" was my favorite, to me it felt better in hand then the 18".

Thanks for the plugs guys. Looks like you'll be seeing a bunch of machete sheaths in a show off thread in the next week or two. :)

Thanks for sharing mistwalker. Good to know.

I know where your thinking was coming from, I was wondering the same thing for a while there.

I was worried about the thickness of the longer models at first because I don't like a lot of flop or easy flex in my machetes. But I knew 3/32 could be made pretty stiff. That last trip to the shop I took the opportunity to check out the blanks of the other sizes, and I really like what I saw and felt. I feel comfortable with the idea of a 16, and even consider the 18, and it will be a working tool more than a woods-wandering tool.
