Hey everyone I've been looking for a new machete leaning towards a Parang style 12 inch blade most likely. It would be used mostly for light brush clearing that sort of thing I use an ax for the heavy work. Is there any other style I should be looking into? Considering a Condor right now but I sure am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased the Condor Village Parang and have been comparing it to the Condor Pack Golok that I have owned and used since they came out a couple of years ago. You might take a look at these.

Ordered a pack golok needed something short a lot of the stuff I will be cutting is in a narrow area and I like that it will be easy to carry anyone have any thoughts on that Condor?

Love the Pack Golok. I still have the regular Golok, but I tend to grab the Pack Golok more often now. It seems to hold an edge pretty well and sharpens up nicely. I like the sheath which is a big selling point. I'm just messing around with the Village Parang lately. I seldom use the curved portion of the Pack Golok and thought the Village Parang might just be a better fit for me. Some prefer the plastic handle of its sister.

If I have any real criticism, the wood handle is just a tad thick for me.

Tramotinas on machete specialist.com. they come in blade lengths ranging from 10 in to 22 inches. They weigh nothing and just sail right through brush

Personally I use a 35 (overall) inch Imacasa Sable. I know its 3x your length but it will do heavy or light work without a problem. Heavy - 4-5 inch limbs. Light - brush or tall grass. Its never bent or been damaged and I've abused it. I would highly recommend you check out the Imacasa machetes for something your size. Also Kershaw camp 10 or 14. I have a 18 and I love it.

Been trail-blazing with O'Katz Chandung.

Compact enough for slashing low vegetation to chopping fallen small logs. I get to try Okapi short machete as well at 18". It's one hell light yet good brushing tool.
